Licensing Procedures – Adjusters

Return to Contents Page

An adjuster license is required for any person acting as an adjuster under an insurance policy.
Temporary permits are only available in the event of a catastrophe in this state. Salaried employees of authorized insurance companies do not need an insurance adjuster license.

Oregon has general lines and health adjusters only. Adjusters acting only as workers compensation adjusters do not need an adjuster's license as long as they are certified as a claims examiner under standards approved by the Oregon Workers Compensation Division.

Exams are administered by Prometric. See Prometric's Web site for information for candidates for Oregon licenses, including how to register for exams, exam outlines, and exam fees. An insurance application must be approved before an applicant can register for an exam. Exam fees are paid directly to Prometric at the time of exam registration.

Individuals who wish to request special accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or for whom English is a second language (ESL) may request special exam arrangements by submitting a special accommodations form to Prometric. The form is available on Prometric's Web site in the licensing information bulletin.
